So Mr. Brown said we have til this coming Thursday to film and edit a video and turn it in for an A in the class.
So on Friday night, I called up some of the guys to go hiking and camp on the foothills down from Mt. Timpanogos, with the intentions of filming a documentary and taking some pictures. I also wanted to try filming a time lapse.
Due to some uncontrollable events, we weren't able to actually take off til almost 11. We drove into Lindon until we got to the foothills, and we parked our cars on the side of the road.
We couldn't find a trail, so we bushwacked up the side of the mountain. After about an hour, we came to the first flat patch of ground and we set up all of our camp stuff.
Me and Kyle took some test shots and decided to get cooler photos we'd have to climb up higher. Everyone was pretty winded so me, him and Jay started hiking up higher. I'm gonna skip all the details of bushwacking a mountain at 12:30 at night, which was pretty miserable, as you would probably guess.
Anyway, we got to another little meadow near the top of Mt. Baldy at around 2:00 AM and we laid out our bags, and got ready to sleep.
1st thing that went wrong: The remote I bought for my camera to shoot a time lapse required a little more knowledge to set up than I expected. So I decided to shoot it manually.
AKA: no sleep that night
2nd thing that went wrong: In order to shoot manually and have a smooth time lapse, I needed to time myself. After shooting for about an hour, my phone died and I had to count in my head.
AKA: not only could I not sleep, but I had to stay fully awake so I count keep counting in my head.
With the pictures I got, the time lapse turned out pretty cool, but I'm gonna try again now that I know how to work the remote.
The trip wasnt a total loss though.
I got plenty of video for my doc, and I got some sweet pictures on top of Baldy.
Check em out.
I'll post the documentary after I edit it.
